Paxman Presents Ground-Breaking Study at Arab Health 2025
On 30th January 2025, the Paxman team wrapped up after a successful four days exhibiting at Arab Health. The global healthcare medical expo is the largest event of its kind in the Middle East. Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the UAE, the event welcomed over 3,800 companies exhibiting their latest innovations from over 163 countries.i
Participating in the 4-day event, Paxman were delighted to welcome a range of international delegates, both to our exhibition stand and our educational session on success in scalp cooling (in collaboration with ABHI).
Success in Scalp Cooling – Paxman’s Educational Floor Session
On Tuesday 28th January at 12:15pm, seats at the ABHI stand began to fill up with curious attendees in anticipation of new scalp cooling data, a product demonstration and guest speaker perspectives.
Titled ‘Success in Scalp Cooling – Managing Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia’, the session delivered valuable and comprehensive information on scalp cooling – acting as an introduction on the treatment for some, whereas for others, it was a reminder of its importance and value in cancer care.
The Patient Perspective: Nilly Al-Banna
Nilly Al-Banna, a former scalp cooling patient, then spoke to the floor about her experience with mitigating chemotherapy-induced hair loss.
The cold cap allowed her to deal with chemotherapy and reduce the impact of the treatment on her family. She found that keeping her hair helped her to retain her identity as her life took a turn through a “dark tunnel”. Ultimately, she believes to have retained 90% of her hair due to the Paxman Scalp Cooling System.
The Clinician Perspective: Dr Bassel Jallad
The Paxman team were also joined by Dr Bassel Jallad, Haematologist and Medical Oncologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi. He presented on his experience of scalp cooling, including implementation into his practice from both a nurse’s perspective and a clinician’s. Dr Jallad also covered a range of scalp cooling studies, demonstrating the wide-ranging benefits of the treatment.
Dr Jallad spoke with Paxman after his presentation, highlighting the importance of scalp cooling awareness and adoption to ensure that patients who want to access the technology don’t have to travel at great lengths, just to preserve their hair.
“We want it available for all patients. Some patients come to my facility for that reason. I want it to be available for them wherever they live – they don’t have to cross hundreds of miles just to have that type of service.”
Dutch Registry Data & Product Demonstration
Attendees at the presentation were given a live demonstration of the Paxman Scalp Cooling device after a presentation by our Head of International Sales, Anna Parker, on the latest Dutch Registry data – the largest real-world multi-centre analysis of determinants for scalp cooling efficacy. A 13-year study with data on 7,424 patients and 24 chemotherapy regimens, it is the best snapshot we have ever had on scalp cooling in the real world.
After the presentations, there was a Q&A filled with interesting questions from attendees on the Paxman Scalp Cooling System, followed by refreshments.
We are proud and grateful to have collaborated with ABHI for this fantastic event and opportunity to demonstrate the life-changing benefits of scalp cooling and to encourage centres in the Middle East to consider a more patient-centred approach to cancer care, including side effect management.
The Paxman Exhibition
The Paxman team were stationed at exhibition stand H3.A16, showcasing the Paxman Scalp Cooling System; offering visitors the opportunity to experience a cold cap for themselves and understand how to get the best cap fit.
With plenty of resources and information on efficacy, operation and steps to implement scalp cooling, we were delighted to welcome a wide range of delegates to our space and look forward to our future collaborations in combatting chemotherapy-induced hair loss together.
